Summertime Gas Prices

Crude oil prices eased a bit Tuesday -- down 67 cents per barell. But AAA is reporting the average gallon of gas in the United States now stands at $3.04 a gallon.

It’s not quite that bad, but how are local gas prices measuring up against the national average? We know you can do better -- and worse -- than $3.04 in the Baton Rouge area. Here’s one gas station we found in Sorrento:

Where is the most expensive gas you've found? How about the cheapest? Be sure to tell us the amount per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline and the location of the service station.

Jim: I purchased gasoline for $2.79/gallon at the Wal-Mart accross the street from Cortana Mall. I had to go inside and purchase the discount card fisrst==which allowed me a $.03 discount per gallon. You are doing a great job---keep up the good work. Norm

I do know the further you get away from teh interstate the lower the gas prices may become.

I have a relative who runs a gas station and he told me, when I questioned him about it, that they, the owners, charge what the market will buy.

The link above is what I use every day when looking for the lowest priced gas. It lets you put in your ZIP code and it will show all the surrounding gas stations. It's pretty accurate because the way it works is by looking at credit card transactions from the previous day.
